PAGE 30 I THE GREAT ALPINE ROAD VISITOR GUIDE BRIGHT Film festival will inspire travellers The annual Adventure Travel Film Festival will hit Bright once again in 2019, from February 15 to 17, when travellers and film lovers will converge on the picturesque township for a weekend celebration of the world’s greatest adventure travel films from the 1920s to the present day. Come to the Adventure Travel Film Festival to see the world and be inspired and amazed with inspiring speakers, authors and filmmakers and startling moonlight entertainment. Festivalgoers can travel vicariously with adventurers from all walks of life, living their dreams through remote areas across the globe. There are films about walkers, kayakers, cyclists, climbers, skate- boarders, backpackers, musicians and much more. Among the speakers set to inspire will be Bright local and ocean sailor, Chris Francis, Todd and Chantelle Powell, who rode the Pan American Highway through South America on postie bikes, and Dr Beau Miles, who decided he needed some exercise after completing a PhD and set out to run a mile an hour around his perfectly mile-long block for 24 hours. “The only risk you face by coming to the Adventure Travel Film Festival is that you may go home, pack up and hit the road,” festival director, Rupert Shaw, said. “The festival is an unmissable celebration of those with an adventurous spirit. If you are planning a trip or just dreaming of exotic locations the festival will inspire you.” Festival HQ is in the heart of town, right next door to the Bright Brewery, where excellent meal deals are on offer for festival participants. Sure to be a highlight will be the Starlight Cinema in the parkland behind the brewery where the best of the films will be screened from dusk on the Friday and Saturday nights. A full list of films and speakers and details on how to get tickets are available on the festival’s website. The creators of the Adventure Travel Film Festival, adventurers Austin Vince and Lois Price, love to inspire others to travel.
