The farm is situated on a picturesque 375-acre property bordering Mt Buffalo National Park. The fun mini-golf course is themed around a section of The Great Alpine Road. Restaurant options range from antipasto platters like this, to full a la carte meals. If you're after a fun outing, in a spectacular natural setting, point your vehicle towards the The Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm in Eurobin. Situated on a large property, bordering the Mt Buffalo National Park, The Red Stag offers lots to see and do. With a deer, emu and ostrich farm, an acclaimed restaurant, gift shop, animal petting area, mini-golf course and much more, a visit to The Red Stag will easily keep you and your family occupied for a full day of learning, dining, shopping and fun. A rich history The owners of The Red Stag, Robert and Grace, are of Italian descent, with Robert's parents migrating to Australia from Italy in 1938. After purchasing the 375-acre farm in 1952, they began dairy farming, and in 1964 planted the first crop of tobacco. The dairy farm later became a beef cattle farm. In 1987, the farm purchased its first red deer for the property, and seven years later, the The Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm was established. The farm now has more than 200 animals, including red deer, emus, ostriches and goats. Fine food The Red Stag restaurant, which is open every day from 10am-4pm (closed for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays), offers guests the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely snack, including The Red Stag's Devonshire tea, which is legendary for its huge freshly-baked scones. Alternatively, you can settle-in for a full meal, with an extensive a la carte menu that includes meals incorporating venison, kangaroo and emu meat for those who are "game". While enjoying the food, you'll also have the chance to marvel at majestic alpine views in all directions, including the beautiful Mount Buffalo National Park and snow-capped Mt Feathertop. You might also like to try the 2016 Red Stag Label Shiraz or Savagnin – both bottled from local cool-climate vineyards. Petting area and mini golf Visitors are welcome to look around the property at no charge, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to show you around. If you have the kids with you, they'll love the petting area, where you can buy buckets of grain and be shown how to hand feed the animals there, which include pigs, goats and deer. The Red Stag also has a fun 9-hole mini-golf course themed around the Myrtleford-to-Mt Hotham stretch of the The Great Alpine Road, incorporating a mini tobacco kiln and an authentic cattleman's hut! Gift shop The extensive gift shop at The Red Stag offers visitors an array of products, ranging from deer-themed clothing, tea-towels and cushions, hats, bags, deer horns and more, to a full range of therapeutic, farm-produced emu-oil products. The shop also stocks a variety of frozen game meats, including various cuts of venison and goat, venison sausages, salami, kabana, and emu fillets.
